FAQ

Power Shut-off, Timers, Functions

What happens if the power goes out? Will the most recently set program restart from the beginning?

  • Sand filter pumps

In most INTEX sand filter pumps, the last program set will restart from the beginning. However, the last program will not be stored in the settings in sand filtration pumps manufactured in 2019 and Q1 of 2020. The date of manufacture can be found on the label with barcode, which is usually placed on the base of the motor and is in the following format: year, month, day (e.g. 20230519).

  • Sand filter pumps with saltwater systems

Yes, the last program set will restart from the beginning in all types of INTEX sand filter pumps with saltwater systems.

  • Saltwater systems

Yes, the last program set will restart from the beginning in all types of INTEX saltwater systems.

Can I use a timer?

Technically, it is possible. However, INTEX does not have timers in its product range and shall not be responsible for the suitability of timers from other manufacturers.

I only have the INTEX saltwater system. Will it work without a filter pump running?

No, the saltwater system cannot work without a filter pump. The saltwater system does not have its own pump to draw water from the pool. The saltwater system must be connected DOWNSTREAM THE FILTER PUMP and the filter pump must be running. In case the saltwater system is turned on without the filter pump running, it will not switch on and will most likely display error code 90 (insufficient water flow). The saltwater system will not get damaged; it will however remain idle and will not produce chlorine.

I have an INTEX filter pump with saltwater system. Will it work without a filter pump running?

If you set up the saltwater system, the filter pump switches on automatically. Once the set time of the saltwater system passes, the filter pump switches off as well.
If you set the saltwater system separately to run separately for e.g. 4 hours and the filter pump for e.g. 6 hours, the filter pump will carry on with its program after the saltwater system time passes (that is for 2 more hours).

How long should I leave the saltwater system and filter pump running?

There is no clear answer to this question. This always depends on the pool size, the pump output, the number of people using the pool, outside temperature, frequency of rainfall, etc. The saltwater system produces chlorine, but does not affect other water parameters (pH, hardness – calcium and other minerals, alkalinity). We always recommend that you measure the water parameters with test strips during the first filling and before starting any equipment, so that you know what the baseline parameters are. During the initial period, test the water more frequently and adjust the operation time of the filter pump and saltwater system. Treat the water with pool chemicals if necessary.

Other features

  • Self-cleaning function of the saltwater system electrode

The self-cleaning function changes the electrode polarity for the selected interval. During the electrode self-cleaning, chlorine is still being produced. In case of a power failure, the saltwater system remembers the last setting (polarity) as well as the time it has been in operation, and when the power supply is restored, the self-cleaning (polarity reversal) program continues with the already started cycle.

  • Saltwater system BOOST (= INCREASED PERFORMANCE)

The saltwater system can be programmed to run for 1 to 12 hours. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to do a one-time increase of chlorine. For that reason, the saltwater system includes a BOOST (INCREASED PERFORMANCE) function, which allows the saltwater system to run for longer than 12 hours at a time. The setup procedure is described in the user manual.

  • O3 GENERATOR indicator on the ozone & saltwater system

Ideally, this indicator should be off. If on, it indicates a fault of the motor. If the product is still under warranty, you should make a claim at the seller. Otherwise request a replacement control station (motor base).

  • SERVICE indicator on the saltwater system or filter pump with saltwater system

If the SERVICE indicator is steadily lit, it is most likely a case of circuit board failure. This is solved by replacing the board or the entire motor base. If the product is under warranty, make a warranty claim at the dealer. If the SERVICE indicator is flashing, moisture probably reached the circuit board. We recommend that you let it dry out by turning the saltwater system or the motor base of the filter pump with saltwater system over and leaving it on sunlight for 4 hours.

The equipment should always be placed on a wooden base.

Do not place filter pumps and saltwater systems in grass or similar.
